Warpower: Germany

The WARPOWER series of sites take a unique, 'by-the-numbers', quick-reference approach to the current (2024) military capabilities of Germany, a Top 20 fighting force. Germany remains at the center of European policy and supplies it considerable industrial might to further the conglomerate. The country was the focus of both World Wars during the earlier part of the 20th Century and continues to influence the region as a leader in EU goings-on, this under the shadow of war overtaking Ukraine. Modernization is at the key of the country as it moves through the current decade into the next.

Military Service Branches

The fighting forces of Germany are collectively managed under the Bundeswehr (Federal Defence Forces of Germany) banner that encompasses six major branches of service: the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) (RAAF), the Heer (German Army) (AA), the Deutsche Marine (German Navy), the Joint Support Service, the Joint Medical Service, and the Cyber and Information Domain Service. The defense force, in its post-World War II form, was founded on November 12th, 1955 and relaunched on October 3rd, 1990 following German Unification and the collapse of the Soviet Empire. The force is headquartered out of historic Berlin, Bonn, and Potsdam.
